Our statement of Business Continuity is:

  • To ensure all employees are competent to do their tasks, and to give them adequate training
  • To review and revise this plan on a regular basis
  • To provide a general plan on what to do in an emergency situation
  • To provide details of emergency contacts- staff/suppliers/customers
  • To ensure that the Business continues

1) Our Approach Business Continuity Management

We use a 5 step process to managing Business Continuity.

  • Step 1: Analyse the business
  • Step 2: Assess the risks
  • Step 3: Develop the strategy
  • Step 4: Develop the plan
  • Step 5: Rehearse the plan

2) Business Analysis

Orcare is a web design and hosting agency which supports businesses through the provision of consultancy, project related software development and the hosting of websites, email and collaboration tools.  We do this by designing and building software ourselves, outsourcing visual design and hosting services to competent third party suppliers.

In the case of project development work our deadlines are usually in the scale of weeks to months.  However, in the case of web and email hosting the criticality of resolution of issues depends on the client's requirements.

3) Risk Analysis

Our business can be affected by the following key risks:

  • Severe Weather
  • Fire
  • Flood
  • Restricted access to premises
  • Theft of Equipment
  • Loss of utilities (power)
  • IT Systems Failures
  • Disruption of Fuel Supplies
  • Outbreak of disease or infection
  • Disasters affecting suppliers
  • Absence of Critical Staff

4) Strategy

A detailed Business Continuity Plan covering the key risks identified in (3-Risk Analysis) above.  Critical to the BCP will be the production of specific recovery plans in the event of the occurrence of any of the key risks.  Recovery plans will include actions, timescales and action owners.

The BCP will be tested and reviewed every 12 months.

The production of the BCP will be the responsibility of the Director.  The plan will be distributed to all staff, along with policies for who, how and when the plan should be activated.

All staff will be trained annually on how to activate the plan.
